About Multicare-
Multicare in Reading is a residential care home supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, most of them younger adults. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. We are a small house deliberately, because support built around individuals works better than support built around a timetable, and because in a house this size everyone who works here knows everyone who lives here. What we are aiming at is not a tidily run home for its own sake. It is that the people living here get on with the things they actually want to do, whether that is a job, a college course, seeing friends, managing their own money or going out without somebody alongside them. Getting there means knowing people properly. How somebody communicates when they are anxious and words are harder to reach. What their sensory needs are. Which parts of a week are reliably difficult and what genuinely helps when a day begins to go wrong. Support plans are written with the person, in language that is theirs rather than ours. Respite stays are arranged with visits beforehand so that arriving is familiar. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
