About 4 Pages Orchard
4 Pages Orchard is a residential care home in Reading supporting younger adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We are a small house and everything about how we work depends on that. The people who live here are known properly: not just their care plans, but what makes a good day, what makes a bad one, what they are working towards and what they would like everybody to stop asking about. Support is built from that rather than from a template. Our aim is a full ordinary life. Work, college, volunteering, clubs, friends, family, holidays and the everyday freedom to change your mind about all of it. Where something looks difficult or risky, our starting question is how to make it happen, not whether to allow it. People have a real say in how the household runs, and their own rooms are genuinely their own. Communication underpins the lot. We learn how each person tells us what they want, in whatever form that takes, and we make sure the whole team can read it fluently. When somebody is unsettled, we look first at what we might change about the environment or our own approach. Respite stays are available for families needing a planned break. The Care Quality Commission rated us Outstanding at our most recent inspection. That belongs to the team and to the people who live here, and our concern now is not to start coasting on it. You are very welcome to visit and see the house as it normally is.
