About The Grange
The Grange is a residential care home in Reading, caring for older people who need support with daily life, including many who are living with dementia. We offer long term residential care and respite stays, so we can help when home has stopped feeling safe, when a family carer needs a planned break, or when somebody is not quite ready to manage alone after a hospital admission. Moving into a home is a big change and we try to make the first weeks as gentle as we can, which mostly means listening rather than organising. We ask about the life a person has led, the work they did, the music they grew up with, the food they actually enjoy and the routines that make a day feel right, and we build their care around all of that. For residents with dementia we keep familiar faces around them, allow plenty of time and look for the reason behind distress rather than simply managing it. Independence matters here too, so we help with what someone finds difficult and leave alone what they can still do themselves. Meals are cooked on the premises, relatives are welcome throughout the day, and we would rather ring a family with news than let them find out late.
