About Parry House

Parry House is a residential care home in Reading supporting older people and adults with a learning disability or autism, including younger adults. We also offer respite stays. We plan around individuals rather than groups, which is what allows a home with this range of residents to work well. Everyone here has their own room and their own belongings and a genuine say in how the house is run, from what is cooked to how the week is arranged. For residents with a learning disability or autism, communication is where we begin. We learn how each person tells us what they need, in words or otherwise, and we keep routines steady and predictable, with proper notice before anything changes. We support people to cook, shop, manage money and get out locally, because independence comes from doing things rather than from being told you could. We also pay attention to sensory matters such as noise, light and how busy a space feels. For our older residents the emphasis is on keeping the familiar shape of a life going, with flexible mornings, proper meals and company when it is wanted. Respite guests are part of the household while they are with us. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you would like to visit, please get in touch and we will arrange it at a time that suits you.
