About Gallimore Lodge
Gallimore Lodge is a residential care home in Grays supporting adults with a learning disability or autism, including people living with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We support younger adults and we offer respite stays. Everything here starts from the idea that this is home. People have their own rooms, their own belongings and a genuine say in how the house runs. We support people to cook, shop, manage money, use transport and take part in whatever they enjoy locally, because independence comes from doing things rather than from being told you are capable of them. Communication is our first concern. Some of the people here speak, others use signs, symbols or gestures, and others tell us what they need through behaviour that takes time and patience to understand. We learn each person's way and we keep learning as it changes, and we make sure information about someone's own life reaches them in a form they can actually use. Sensory needs get real attention here, as does the practical business of getting around the building safely and independently. Routines are steady and changes are planned and explained in advance. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. Please get in touch if you would like to visit. People are welcome to come more than once before any decision is made.
