About Fir Trees House
Here at Fir Trees House in Epsom, Surrey, we provide residential care for a genuinely diverse group of people. Our home supports older adults, younger adults, people with learning disabilities or autism, and individuals working through recovery from alcohol or drug misuse. We also offer respite care for those who need a shorter stay, whether planned or at short notice. We know that choosing a care home, for yourself or someone you love, is not a decision anyone takes lightly. We try to make that process as straightforward and honest as we can. When people visit us, we want them to get a real sense of who we are, not a polished version of it. Our team works across quite different areas of need, and we think that breadth genuinely strengthens what we do. The staff who support someone with autism day to day bring an understanding that benefits the whole home. The same goes for colleagues who work with people in recovery, or those caring for older residents with complex needs. We learn from one another, and that matters. We want to be transparent about where we are. Our most recent CQC inspection resulted in an overall rating of requires improvement, and we are taking that seriously. We have been working through the feedback carefully and making real changes to how we operate. We would rather be open about that than gloss over it, and we are happy to talk through what has changed when families come to visit. Fir Trees House is a place where people live, not just a place where they receive care. We try to hold onto that distinction in everything we do, from how we plan support to how we spend an ordinary Tuesday afternoon with a resident who just wants some company.
