About Burgh Heath Care Centre
We are Burgh Heath Care Centre near Epsom, a residential care home supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, and people with a physical disability. Many of those living here are younger adults. This is somewhere people live rather than somewhere they are placed, and that difference shows in how the house runs. People choose how their rooms look, what goes on the shopping list and how they spend their time. Decisions about the household are made with the people in it rather than handed down. Support is built around the life each person wants, which might mean college, work, volunteering, sport or seeing family, with as much or as little backing as those things take. Where somebody wants to become more independent, we work at it steadily and at their pace rather than deciding in advance what is beyond them. Communication is central to the work. We take time to learn how each person tells us what they want, in whatever form that takes, and we make sure every member of staff learns it before working alone. We work closely with families, social workers, GPs and community mental health teams, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good.
