About Hillcroft House

Hillcroft House is a residential care home in Stowmarket. We look after older people, including those living with dementia, and younger adults who need residential support. The house runs at a human pace. Help with washing, dressing, mobility and medication is given when it suits the person rather than when it suits a rota, and we ask about the ordinary preferences that usually get lost in a move, from what time somebody likes to get up to how they take their tea. Those things are written down and staff follow them. For people living with dementia we keep the day steady and the faces familiar. We ask families to tell us about a person's working life, the family they mention and what calms them when they are unsettled, and we use that in conversation rather than storing it in a folder. Meals are cooked here and served without hurry. Many of the people who live with us have spent their lives in this part of Suffolk, and we keep those connections going wherever we can. Visitors are welcome and we would much rather hear a worry early than late. Short respite stays are available, often to give a carer at home a rest or to help somebody regain confidence after hospital. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see us.
