About The Grange
The Grange is a residential care home in Westcliff on Sea. We support older people and younger adults, including people managing mental health conditions, and we offer respite stays. We should be straightforward about our position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We accepted the findings, we have been working through them, and anybody considering the home should ask us directly what has changed and what is still to be put right. Our approach with residents who have mental health needs is recovery focused, which means we assume people can move forward and we build support around what somebody wants their life to look like rather than around managing them. For some that leads towards more independent living. For others it means stability, routine and somewhere that is genuinely theirs for as long as they need it. Staff here are available without being intrusive. Residents come and go, cook for themselves where they want to, and take part in running the house. We hold regular residents meetings and we act on what comes out of them rather than minuting it and moving on. We work closely with community mental health teams, care coordinators and GPs, and consistency between us and those teams matters a great deal. Please come and look round, speak to residents and relatives while you are here, and judge the place for yourself.
