About Happy Days
Happy Days is a residential care home in Westcliff on Sea. We support older people and younger adults, including people with a learning disability, autistic people, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Supporting a range of people under one roof only works if it is done deliberately, and we put the effort in. Everyone here should have the routine, the space and the company that actually suits them rather than a compromise that suits nobody. Some people want a full and busy week with plenty happening outside the house. Others want quiet and familiarity. Both are properly provided for. We plan from the person outwards: how they communicate, what they want to be able to do, what they can manage alone, what they would like help with, and what they would rather we left well alone. Independence is the aim from the first day, not something handed back once somebody has settled, and where a plan looks difficult we work out how to make it possible instead of finding a reason to avoid it. For anyone with sensory loss we adapt how we approach and speak, so that care never arrives unannounced. For autistic people we take environment and pace seriously and treat a preference as information rather than a problem to be worked on. Respite stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. Visitors are welcome whenever it suits them, and questions are welcome even more.
