About Chertsey Road
Chertsey Road is a small residential home in Twickenham supporting adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people with physical disabilities, including younger adults. We also offer respite stays, planned in advance so that a short stay is a visit somewhere familiar. Because we support people with both learning and physical disabilities, a lot of our attention goes on practical detail. Equipment, hoists, transfers, seating and access all decide whether somebody can get where they want to go and do things for themselves, so we get them right and review them as needs change. Just as much attention goes on communication. Some people here use speech, others use signs, symbols or a device, and others tell us a great deal through their behaviour, so we take the time to learn it and record what we learn. Beyond that, this is somebody's home. People choose how their rooms look, help with the shopping and the cooking if they want to, and decide how their week is spent. London is on the doorstep, and we are willing to do the planning it takes to use it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and professionals are welcome to visit.
