About Newland House
We are Newland House, a residential care home in Witney, Oxfordshire. We provide a home for older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, and we also take respite stays. Residential care means supporting people with the parts of daily life that have become hard work while leaving everything else where it belongs, which is with the person. Washing and dressing, meals, medication, moving about safely, and the everyday company that makes a day worth getting up for. For health needs beyond our registration we work alongside district nurses and GPs. Dementia shapes much of our day. We have found that correcting somebody's account of things achieves nothing, and that knowing who a person has been tells us far more than any list of symptoms. Someone who worked for decades to a particular rhythm often still carries it, and a routine built around that goes better than one imposed on top. Respite guests are assessed and welcomed exactly as permanent residents are, whether they are recovering after illness or giving a family carer a rest. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
