About Windsor House
Windsor House is a residential care home in Nottingham supporting older people and younger adults, including adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We plan around the individual rather than the building. Before somebody moves in we ask how they have always run their day, what they want help with and what they would much rather do themselves, and we write it down so it does not depend on who is on shift. Help with washing, dressing, mobility and medication is given quietly and at the time that suits. Where somebody has a learning disability or is autistic, we use the way of communicating they already trust and learn it properly rather than guessing. Routines that need to stay exactly the same are kept that way without anybody making an issue of it, because predictability is often what allows a person to relax. The house is easy to visit and we encourage families and friends to come as often as they like. We also keep people connected to whatever they did before they moved in, from clubs and places of worship to appointments across the city. Short respite stays are available. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please call in and see how the house feels on an ordinary day.
