About University Care

University Care runs a residential care home in Nottingham supporting a broad range of adults. We support people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with mental health needs, residents with a physical disability and people living with sight or hearing loss, and many of those who live here are younger adults. That range means assessment matters. Before anybody moves in we want to be sure we can meet their needs properly and that the placement will work both for them and for the people already living here. We say so honestly when we do not think we are the right place. Support is planned one person at a time. For one resident that may mean help with most of the day, including personal care and help to move safely. For another it may mean very little practical help but a good deal of structure, encouragement and staff who understand how they communicate. We also support people living with eating disorders, working alongside the health professionals involved and without judgement at mealtimes or afterwards. Our staff are trained for the people they actually support, including communication and positive ways of responding when somebody is distressed, and we keep the team as consistent as we can. Respite stays are available and give family carers a proper break. Please contact us if you would like to visit and see how the home runs.
