About Patrick House
Patrick House is a residential care home in Nottingham. We support adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including younger adults, and we offer respite stays for people who need a short break or whose family carer needs one. The house belongs to the people who live in it. Everybody has a support plan written with them, in a form they can actually use, covering how they like to be supported, what they enjoy, what they find hard and what they want their week to hold. Some of the people here want a predictable structure and will say so when it slips. Others would rather take each day as it comes. People go out into Nottingham, keep up college, work, clubs and family contact, and supporting that is the point of the place rather than an extra when staffing allows. Communication is where we concentrate. Where somebody does not use speech, we learn the ways they do tell us things and make sure every member of the team understands them. When someone becomes distressed we treat it as communication and look for the cause, and anything that restricts a person's freedom is agreed properly, written down and reviewed with the aim of reducing it. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. Families, advocates and professionals are welcome to visit.
