About Orla House
Orla House is a small residential care home in Nottingham for adults living with learning disabilities and autism. Being small is deliberate. In a house with only a few people in it, staff know everybody properly, the week can be shaped around individuals rather than a rota, and someone who needs quiet is able to find some. It also means the people who live here have a genuine say in how the place is run, from what gets cooked to how the shared rooms look and who comes through the door. We support people to do as much for themselves as they want and are able to, whether that is cooking, shopping, handling money, travelling around Nottingham or keeping up with college, work and friendships. Where a person needs a lot of help, we give it without making them feel lesser for needing it. Communication is planned around each individual, and we take change at a pace that people can manage rather than one that suits a review date. Respite stays are available for short periods of support or to give a family carer a planned break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and anyone considering a place is welcome to visit and meet us.
