About Larwood House

Larwood House is a residential care home in Nottingham. We support a notably mixed group and that is a deliberate choice rather than an accident. Older adults live here, and so do younger adults. Among the people we support are those with a learning disability, autistic people, people managing a mental health condition, and people with a physical disability. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Running a home with that mix takes more thought than running one where everybody is alike, because no single routine will do. So we work out what each person's day ought to look like and then make the house fit around it. One resident may want early meals and quiet evenings. Another may be out at a day service and back late with shopping and opinions. Both are reasonable, and neither has to justify itself to us. Support plans are agreed with the person and written in language the person can actually read. Staff are matched to people with some thought rather than allocated to whoever is on shift. Where information is taken in differently we slow down, explain before we act, and check rather than assume. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and visit, and please talk to residents rather than only to us.
