About Holme Lodge
Holme Lodge is a residential care home in Nottingham. We provide a home for older people who need support with daily living, including people with physical disabilities, and we support younger adults. Respite stays are available for people needing care for a short period. Coming to live in a care home is a significant thing, and the early weeks matter far more than any account of the building. We use them to learn about the person rather than to fit them into our routine. What they did for a living, what they will not be persuaded to eat, what time breakfast has always been, whether they would sooner have company or the door shut and the radio on. Small facts, and together they are most of what makes a room feel like home. Where a physical disability affects how somebody moves about, we design around them rather than expecting them to accommodate the building, and we are careful that helping with one task does not quietly turn into doing everything. The rest of the day belongs to the people living it. Getting up when you choose, visitors when it suits you, keeping up with family, friends and whatever you have always done. We are here to make those possible, not to fill a timetable. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We keep asking residents and families what needs to change.
