About Dovecote
Dovecote is a residential care home in Nottingham, providing a home for older people who need support with daily living and for adults living with a mental health condition. We also support younger adults, and we offer respite stays for those who need care for a shorter period. We are not a large place and we work at a human scale. Residents know each other, they know the staff, and daily life feels like a household rather than an institution. People here choose when to get up, how they spend their days, what they eat and how much company they want. Where someone is managing a mental health condition, we plan support with them rather than for them. We talk about what helps, what makes things harder, what the early signs look like when things are becoming difficult and what they would like us to do. That plan belongs to the resident and we revisit it as circumstances change. We encourage independence wherever people want to build it and give as much practical support as is genuinely needed. We work closely with GPs and community mental health teams so that support is consistent, and we keep families and advocates involved where residents want that. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. Please get in touch if you would like to visit.
