About Broadlands Residential Care Home
Broadlands Residential Care Home is in Nottingham and we care for older people, including those living with dementia. We are not a nursing home, so our strengths are personal care, a settled daily rhythm and knowing everybody who lives here properly rather than from paperwork. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and whatever else has become difficult, and we try to leave people in charge of everything else. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they spend the day, what they eat and whether they want company or a quiet room with the door closed. For residents living with dementia we keep the home familiar and the staff consistent, explain what is happening as we go along, and try to work out what lies behind a change in mood instead of treating it as a symptom to manage. Families usually understand a person better than any assessment, and what they tell us shapes how we work. Mealtimes matter. Food is cooked here, we ask what people actually fancy and nobody is hurried along. Respite stays are available, whether to give a family carer a break, to help somebody regain strength after illness, or to let a person try this kind of home before making a longer decision. You are welcome to visit, look round properly and ask the awkward questions. Please ring to arrange a time that suits you.
