About The Troc Care Home
The Troc is a residential care home in Newark, Nottinghamshire. Those living here include older people, many living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We support younger adults too, and we offer respite stays. A mixed household asks more of us rather than less. One routine will not suit everybody, so we work out individually what a good day looks like for each person and build from there. For some it is company and something going on. For others it is being left largely to themselves, and we treat that as a legitimate preference rather than something to be talked out of. Where a resident communicates differently, whether because of a sensory impairment or for another reason, we deal with that properly rather than half doing it, since a great deal else depends on getting it right. For residents living with dementia we protect the routine and keep surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the history that makes a person make sense to us. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Relatives are welcome unannounced.
