About Holywell House Care Centre
Holywell House Care Centre is a residential care home in Whitley Bay. We support older people, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. We want this to feel like somewhere people live rather than somewhere people are placed. Rooms are personal, visitors are welcome without appointment, and the day is built around the people in the home rather than the other way about. If somebody has always had a late breakfast, they can carry on having a late breakfast. Dementia care is a large part of what we do, and we try to be practical about it. Familiar staff, a day with a predictable rhythm, surroundings somebody can make sense of, and plenty of time. We ask relatives to tell us about a person's life in some detail, because knowing that somebody was a teacher, or kept pigeons, or always walked along the front on a Sunday, gives us far more to work with than a list of tasks. Respite stays matter to us as well. Looking after a relative at home is demanding, and a planned break can be what makes it possible to keep going. Guests coming for a short stay get the same attention as anyone living here. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. We would be glad to show you round, introduce you to the team and answer whatever questions you have, including the awkward ones.
