About Elm Bank Care Home
Elm Bank Care Home is a residential care home in Hexham, Northumberland. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and to younger adults who need residential care, and we welcome people for respite stays. We look after a small enough number of people to know all of them well, and that is deliberate. Our team can tell when a resident is not themselves long before it shows up in any formal review, which is usually when something can still be put right easily. Life here runs at the pace people set. Rising times, meals, company or quiet, a walk in the fresh air or an afternoon with the television. Residents bring their own furniture and pictures and make their rooms theirs. Hexham being the sort of town it is, plenty of our residents have family and friends nearby who come and go freely, and we like it that way. Dementia care here is built on familiarity. Consistent staff, a settled routine and a proper knowledge of each person's life story let us make sense of what someone is trying to tell us and head off distress rather than react to it. We work with local GPs and district nurses on health needs and keep families informed as a matter of habit. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
