About Riverside Court
Riverside Court is a residential care home near York for older people, including those living with dementia and residents with a physical disability. We are not a nursing home, so our strengths are personal care, a settled daily rhythm and knowing the people who live here properly. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and whatever else has become difficult, at the pace of the person rather than the pace of a rota. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they sit, what they eat and whether they want company or a quiet room with the door closed. For residents living with dementia we keep the surroundings familiar and the staff consistent, explain what is happening as we go and try to work out what is behind a change in mood instead of treating it as a symptom. Where somebody has a physical disability the right equipment is in place and staff are trained to help with moving safely and comfortably. Meals are cooked here and we ask people what they actually want to eat, and there is somewhere pleasant to sit outside when the weather allows. Respite stays are available for family carers needing a break or for somebody regaining strength after illness. Please ring us if you would like to come and look round.
