About Amber House

Amber House is a residential care home in Brigg, North Lincolnshire, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Being a small household is deliberate. It means the people who live here know each other and know the staff team properly, and it means we can build the week around individuals rather than around a rota on the office wall. Rooms are personal and people are encouraged to fill them with their own things. The kitchen is somewhere people cook rather than somewhere care happens, and the weekly shop, the washing and the garden are shared jobs that belong to everyone. We take communication seriously. Where someone uses signs, symbols, an app or their own particular way of letting us know what they need, we learn it and record it clearly so nobody has to start from scratch. Where someone finds change difficult, we prepare in advance and avoid filling a life with unnecessary disruption. Respite stays often work well as a gentle introduction for someone who may move in later. We keep families and social workers closely involved and we will always tell you honestly what we think, including when we think something is not working. You are welcome to visit and meet us before making any decisions. Please get in touch.
