About Welcome House - The Chestnuts
Here at Welcome House The Chestnuts, we are a care home based in Rochester, Medway, offering residential care, mental health support and respite care to the people we look after. We know that choosing a care home, whether for yourself or someone you love, is one of the most significant decisions a family can make. We do not take that trust lightly. Our team works to create a home environment where residents feel safe, respected and genuinely listened to. We want people to feel settled here, not simply accommodated. Our mental health specialism means we have experience supporting people whose needs go beyond standard residential care. We understand that mental health can shape how someone experiences day to day life in profound ways, and we try to respond to each person as an individual rather than fitting them into a routine that does not suit them. For those who come to us for respite care, we aim to make the transition as straightforward and comfortable as possible. Whether someone is staying for a short period to give a family carer a break, or to recover before returning home, we want that time to feel purposeful and well supported rather than like a waiting period. We are aware that our most recent CQC inspection resulted in an inadequate rating, and we want to be open about that. We have taken the findings seriously and are actively working through the improvements that are needed. We believe in being honest with families and prospective residents rather than glossing over difficulties, because that honesty is part of how trust is rebuilt. If you would like to come and see us, speak with our team or ask questions about how we might support you or your loved one, please do get in touch. We welcome that conversation.
