About Jersey Road
Jersey Road is a residential care home in Rochester, Medway, supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people managing mental health conditions, most of them younger adults. Respite stays are available too. The house is small on purpose. Being properly known by the people who support you does more good than any programme, and support built around individuals works better than support built around a routine. We take time to learn how each person communicates, particularly when they are anxious and words become harder to reach, what their sensory needs are and which parts of a week are reliably difficult. That understanding is recorded clearly so that nobody supporting somebody is working from guesswork. What we want is for people here to get on with the things they actually want to do, with us handling the genuinely hard parts and keeping out of the way of the rest. Support plans are written with the person in words that are theirs and they change when life changes. We work closely with community mental health teams, social workers and health colleagues. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
