About Mayfield Residential Home
Mayfield is a residential home in Spalding, Lincolnshire. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for families who need a planned break. A home either gets the small things right or it does not, and residents know which within a week. Waiting times, food, privacy, and whether staff remember what you told them yesterday. We approach dementia through routine and history. Knowing that a resident taught, or farmed, or lost a brother young, changes what we can say to her. We hold an overall rating of requires improvement from our most recent inspection. We accept the findings and would rather be questioned about them directly. When somebody is admitted to hospital we stay involved rather than handing over and waiting. Familiar information travels with them. Alcohol, smoking and other adult choices are treated as adult choices. We advise where it helps and we do not lecture. Anybody considering us should come without an appointment, talk to residents and relatives away from staff, and press us for specifics about what has changed and what has not yet.
