About SENSE - 56 Monks Dyke Road
We are 56 Monks Dyke Road in Louth, Lincolnshire, a residential care home run by Sense. We support adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults and people with visual or hearing impairment, and we also offer respite stays for shorter periods. Sensory loss alongside a learning disability changes what good support looks like, and a great deal of our attention goes there. We learn how each person uses the sight and hearing they have, we keep the house arranged so that it can be navigated with confidence, and we never move things or change a routine without telling people first. Communication is adapted to the individual rather than the other way round, and we take the time to learn how each person tells us what they want and when something is wrong. Support is planned one person at a time. We help with personal care where it is wanted, with cooking, laundry and shopping, with medication and appointments, and with the practical business of running a home. We also support people to get out locally, to keep up the activities they enjoy and to stay close to family and friends. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather be judged on whether the people living here feel at home and have a real say in their support.
