About Fir Close
Fir Close is a residential care home in Louth, Lincolnshire. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we support younger adults too. We also offer respite stays. Our aims are plain enough: eat well, sleep when you like, be helped promptly and be left alone when you would rather be. Everything else follows from those. We ask families for the ordinary biography: the jobs, the houses, the holidays, the arguments, the music. A member of staff who knows those things is doing a different job from one who knows a care plan. For residents living with dementia we protect the routine and keep the surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the history that lets us understand what somebody means rather than only what they said. Declining to join in is always allowed. We ask, we ask again another day, and we do not treat a preference for solitude as a problem to be solved. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ask us what we got wrong in the last year, and we will tell you.
