About Linford House
We are Linford House, a residential care home in Wigston, Leicestershire, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, including younger adults. We offer permanent places and respite stays. Living somewhere small has genuine advantages for the people we support. Routines can be individual rather than negotiated between too many competing needs, and staff come to know everybody properly rather than only what is written in a file. We treat autism as something that shapes how a person experiences where they live. Predictability matters. The sensory environment matters. Saying what is going to happen and when, and then being right about it, does more for most people here than any amount of reassurance. When those things go wrong, nothing else we do makes up for it. The people who live here are adults building lives rather than winding them down, and support that treats them as passive would get in the way of that. So choice runs through the day as far as it can, people do as much for themselves as they are able, and where a decision needs support we provide the support rather than taking the decision over. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
