About The Old Vicarage
The Old Vicarage is a residential care home in Dewsbury, Kirklees, supporting older people and adults living with learning disabilities and autism, including younger adults and people with a visual or hearing impairment. A house shared by people with different needs only works if difference is expected rather than merely tolerated. Our residents do not want the same day as one another, and our job is to make room for that without letting the loudest need crowd out the quietest person. Some want company from breakfast onwards. Others surface later and prefer their own company until then. Both are perfectly reasonable ways to live. We support people to do as much for themselves as they want and are able to, and we adapt how we communicate to suit each individual, particularly where sight or hearing is affected. Being properly understood is the foundation everything else sits on. Respite stays are available for short periods of support or to give a family carer a planned break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and visitors are welcome.
