About Same Difference

Same Difference is a residential care home in Hull, supporting adults who need help with daily living in a house that feels like a home rather than a unit. The people who live here include adults who have a learning disability or who are autistic, people living with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults. We adapt how we communicate and how the house is used so that everybody can take part in what is happening rather than watching from the edge of it. We start with the person. We find out how somebody communicates, what a good day looks like for them, what they would rather do for themselves and what they would like to work towards. Support plans are written with the person, and with families or advocates where that is wanted, and we revisit them as circumstances change. Where someone wants to build skills and confidence, whether that is cooking, budgeting, travelling independently or taking up something new, our role is to be alongside them rather than in front of them. We also offer respite stays, giving family carers a planned break while their relative stays somewhere welcoming and properly staffed. If you would like to see the house, please get in touch and arrange a visit. Come and meet the team, look round properly and ask us whatever you want to know before deciding anything.
