About Foxglove Care - 1 The Causeway

We are Foxglove Care at The Causeway, a small residential home in Hull supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Most of the people we support are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. Our work is about ordinary life rather than care in the abstract. People here choose how their room looks, what they eat, how they spend their time and who they spend it with. We support people to do their own shopping, to cook, to manage money, to use local transport, to keep up with college, work or volunteering, and to see the people who matter to them. Where somebody wants to do more than they do now, our job is to work out the steps with them rather than to decide on their behalf. Communication sits at the centre of that. Not everyone we support uses speech, so we take time to learn how each person expresses choice, discomfort and enthusiasm, and we make sure new staff learn it too before they work alone. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are pleased with it and we treat it as a description of where we were rather than a promise about where we are. If you are looking for supported residential care in Hull, please come and meet us and, more importantly, meet the people who live here.
