About Coxwold & Priory
We are Coxwold and Priory, a residential care home in Hull. We support older people, including those living with dementia, alongside younger adults, people with a learning disability or who are autistic, people with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available for planned short breaks and for periods of recovery. With that range of people under one roof, we take care not to run the home to a single pattern. Some residents want company, activity and conversation from morning until night, others want a quiet room and a routine that holds firm, and both are entirely reasonable ways to live. Everyone gets help with the practical things, washing and dressing, mobility, medication and meals, given at their own pace and without any sense of being hurried along. For residents living with dementia we keep routines familiar, use life history to make sense of what somebody needs, and meet people where they are. For those with sensory loss our staff announce themselves, explain what they are about to do and leave belongings where they were left, which sounds small and is not. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. We would far rather you visited, at a time of your choosing, and judged the home by how people here are spoken to and cared for. Please get in touch and come and see us.
