About Beech Lawn Care Home

We are a residential care home in Hull, providing a home for older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia and people with mental health needs. Much of our work is unremarkable, and that is rather the point: helping somebody wash and dress without hurry, sitting with a person who is anxious, remembering how they like their tea and who they want to hear from. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage and decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening in the house. Meals are cooked here and we listen when somebody would rather have something else. Dementia care rests on knowing the person rather than following a procedure, so we ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits. That knowledge is worth more than any written plan when somebody is frightened or cannot place where they are. Family and friends are welcome whenever they wish to come, and we would far rather hear about a problem early than find out late. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are considering a home for yourself or a relative, do come and look round and ask us anything.
