About Lyndhurst Rest Home
Lyndhurst Rest Home is a residential care home in Whitstable, Kent. We care for people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. A small home has real advantages when it comes to dementia care. Staff can know everybody properly, the surroundings stay calm and easy to make sense of, and the day can hold a dependable shape without feeling regimented. Those three things do more good than any amount of equipment or activity timetabling, and they are what we concentrate on. We ask families for a great deal of detail when somebody arrives. Where they grew up, the work they did, who matters to them, what they like to eat, how they take their tea, what they were like at their most themselves. Staff use it every day, and it is the difference between caring for a person and caring for a condition. Everyone here keeps their own belongings around them, gets up and goes to bed at hours that suit them, and sees visitors when it works for everybody. Help with washing, dressing, medication and meals is given quietly and only as far as it is wanted. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You would be very welcome to come and look round.
