About Ocean Swell

Ocean Swell in Westgate On Sea is a residential care home for older people who need help with daily living, including people with physical disabilities. We offer respite stays as well as permanent places. What we offer is fairly simple and we try to do it well. Help with washing, dressing and getting about, given at the person's own pace and in a way that protects their dignity. Medication managed properly. Three meals a day that people are glad to sit down to, cooked here, with real choice at every one. Warm, clean rooms that people make their own with their own furniture and photographs. Company when it is wanted and quiet when it is not. Where somebody has a physical disability, independence often turns on practicalities: the right equipment, a room arranged so that things are within reach, and help given at the moment it is needed rather than instead of the person trying. We would rather support somebody to do a thing slowly than do it for them quickly. Being by the sea, people make good use of the view and the air when the weather allows. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated the home good overall.
