About Yoakley House Care Home
Yoakley House is a residential care home in Margate providing care for older people who need help with daily life and the reassurance of somebody being there at all hours. We keep the running of the home as ordinary as we can. Residents choose when to get up, what to wear, where to spend the day and who to spend it with. Staff give help with washing, dressing, moving about, medication and meals, and they are trained to do it in a way that preserves privacy and dignity rather than treating people as a list of tasks. Health is watched carefully. We know the people who live here well enough to spot when somebody is not right, and we involve the GP early rather than waiting for a small problem to become a serious one. Meals are cooked on site, and we pay attention to what people actually enjoy eating, which matters more than any amount of theory about nutrition. Margate is our community and we stay part of it. Families and friends are welcome and there is usually somebody to talk to about how their relative is getting on. Respite stays can be arranged for people who need care for a short period or whose family carer needs a rest. If you would like to visit, please telephone us and we will make the arrangements.
