About Green Gables
Green Gables is a residential care home in Margate, Kent, looking after older people who need help with everyday life. We also take respite bookings for people who want a stay of a few weeks, whether that is convalescence after hospital or a break for somebody who cares for a relative at home. We are not trying to be anything other than a comfortable, well run home. People get up when they choose, eat proper food they actually like, keep their own belongings around them and spend the day in whatever way suits. Some join in with everything going on, some prefer the quiet end of the lounge with the paper, and neither needs explaining. What makes that work is staff who know people rather than tasks. Our team notice when somebody is off colour, when an appetite has fallen away or when a usually chatty person has gone quiet, and they act on it with the GP or district nurse rather than waiting to see what happens. Margate and the sea are on the doorstep and we use them. Trips out, visits from family and friends, and keeping up the things people have always done are part of how we work rather than extras bolted on. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please ring if you would like to look round and meet the team.
