About Overcliffe House
Overcliffe House is a residential care home in Gravesend, Kent, supporting adults with a learning disability or autism alongside older people who need residential care. It is a home rather than a placement, and we want everybody living here to feel that it belongs to them. Support is planned individually. It can include help with personal care, medication, cooking, laundry, managing money and getting to appointments, and it takes in the parts of life that matter just as much: friendships, going out, keeping up an interest, having something worthwhile in the week. We communicate in whatever way suits each person, and we give people the time to do things their own way rather than stepping in for the sake of speed. Where somebody wants more independence, support is planned to draw back as their confidence grows. We support younger adults as well as older residents. Respite stays are available too, giving family carers a real break and letting somebody try the house first. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would sooner set that out here than leave you to find it, and the areas identified are where our attention is going. Please visit, meet the people who live here and ask us about it directly.
