About 12 Channel Lea
12 Channel Lea is a small residential home in Deal, Kent, supporting adults with a learning disability or autism. Because we are small, the household can genuinely be built around the people who live in it rather than the other way about, and that is the whole point of the place. Our support is tailored to each person and can include help with personal care, medication, cooking, laundry, managing money and getting to appointments, as well as the parts of life that are easy to treat as optional but never are: friendships, interests, going out, being useful, having something to look forward to. We communicate in the way that suits each individual, and we are careful to give people time to do things themselves rather than stepping in for the sake of speed. Where somebody has a goal of their own, we build support that steps back as they grow into it. Most of the people we support are younger adults, and we plan around what they actually want from their lives rather than what is convenient. Respite stays are available too, which can give a family carer a real break and let somebody try the house first. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are very welcome to visit and meet the people who live here.
