About Copperfield Court
Copperfield Court is a residential care home in Broadstairs in Kent. We support older people, including those living with dementia, people living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities and people whose sight or hearing is impaired, and we take respite guests as well as permanent residents. We aim for a home that runs around the people in it. Rooms are personal, the day is not dictated by a timetable, and visitors are welcome without ceremony. People choose when to get up, what to eat and how much company they want, and staff are around to help rather than to organise everybody. Support covers washing, dressing, medication, meals and mobility, along with the practical adjustments that make life workable when sight or hearing has changed. For people living with dementia we keep things familiar and take our time, and we ask families to tell us about a person's history because it is usually the key to understanding what somebody wants. We are on the Kent coast and we make use of it. Getting outside, a walk or a sit in the fresh air, is not a treat to be earned but part of an ordinary day. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We would rather say that plainly. In the meantime, the best thing you can do is come and see the place, talk to our staff and to the families of people living here, and form your own view.
