About Broadhurst Residential Care Home
Broadhurst Residential Care Home is in Sandown on the Isle of Wight. We support older people who need help with daily life, including many living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment, as well as younger adults. We also offer respite stays. Being on the Island shapes how we work. Families are often close by and call in freely, and the people who live here tend to know the same places and the same faces, which gives everybody plenty to talk about. Where relatives live on the mainland, we make a point of keeping in touch properly so distance does not turn into worry. Residents run their own days. When to get up and go to bed, what to eat, whether to sit with others or keep to their own room with their own things around them. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs and we knock before we come in. For residents living with dementia, consistency helps most, so we keep staffing settled and learn each person's history. Where somebody has mental health needs, we agree in advance what helps when things get difficult. Health needs are managed alongside local GPs and community nurses. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and look round.
