About Autumn House Residential Home
Autumn House Residential Home is a residential care home in Sandown on the Isle of Wight. We support older people, including residents living with dementia and adults living with a mental health condition, and we offer respite care for planned short stays. Island life has a particular character and so does this house. It is small enough that people are known properly rather than looked after by a rota of strangers, and settled enough that our team notices when a resident is not quite themselves. That kind of familiarity does more good than any amount of policy. Before someone moves in we spend time with them and with the people who know them best. What they like to eat, when they prefer to get up, what work they did, who they want to hear from, what they would rather we never did. All of that shapes the support from the first day rather than being filed away. After that, the day belongs to the resident. Company and activity are offered rather than imposed, and someone who wants a quiet afternoon with the paper is not a problem to be solved. Meals are proper meals, cooked here, and we take note of what people genuinely enjoy. Dementia support is part of how the whole home runs. We keep surroundings familiar, avoid rushing anybody, and work with families to understand what settles a particular person. Respite stays are planned with the same care as a permanent move. If you would like to look round, please contact us and we will arrange a convenient time.
