About Sherwood Court
Sherwood Court is a residential care home in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We are a home rather than a facility, and the people living here are supported to run their own lives as far as they are able. Ordinary life is the point of the place. That means cooking, shopping, keeping your own room exactly as you want it, getting out to college, work or a club, and having a genuine say in how the week is arranged. For autistic residents we pay close attention to the things that make a home manageable: steady routines, proper warning before anything changes, and a quiet space to retreat to when the day has been a lot. Support is offered at whatever level suits the person. We help where help is genuinely wanted and stand back where it is not, and we are as interested in what somebody can do independently as in what they need a hand with. Respite stays are available, which can give a family a break or serve as a trial for somebody considering a move. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. If you would like to visit or talk things through, please get in touch and we will take it at whatever pace suits you.
