About Kirkella Mansions Residential Home
Kirkella Mansions Residential Home is in Hull, and we provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, along with respite and short stays. We try to run a household rather than an institution. Residents bring their own furniture and pictures, keep the routines they have always had, and decide how much they want to be part of what is going on. Nobody here is walked to an activity they have not chosen. When somebody moves in we take real time over their history and their preferences, from what time they wake and how they take their tea to the work they did and the people who matter to them. All of it is written down so that every member of staff knows it, not only whoever carried out the assessment. Dementia care rests on familiarity and pace. We keep staffing as consistent as we can, we avoid unnecessary change and we find out what settles a particular resident, because it is rarely the same for two people. Families get honest updates from us rather than comfortable ones. Meals are cooked on the premises and residents have a genuine say in the menu. Visitors are welcome throughout the day and can stay for a meal if the kitchen knows in advance. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see the home, ideally without arranging it first.
