About Foxglove Care - 14 Church Road
We are a small residential care home on Church Road in Hull, supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, and people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment. Many of the people who live here are younger adults. Because the home is small, it works rather like a shared household. People have their own rooms set up how they want them, and the rest of the house belongs to everybody. Meals get planned together and cooked together where people want to be involved. Decisions about how the house runs are made with the people living in it rather than handed down. Our support is built around what each person wants their life to include. That might be college, a job, volunteering, sport, seeing family, or simply having the time and the backing to do ordinary things without someone else taking charge. Where a person wants to become more independent, we work at it steadily and at their pace. Communication matters enormously in this work. We take time to learn how each person expresses what they want, whether through speech, signs, pictures or behaviour, and we make sure new staff learn it too before they are left to get on with things. We work closely with families, social workers and health professionals, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. You are welcome to visit and meet us.
