About Spetisbury Manor

Spetisbury Manor is a residential care home near Blandford Forum in Dorset, and we provide a home for older people who need support with daily living. Respite stays are available as well. Most of what makes a care home good is unspectacular detail. Knowing which chair is somebody's. Getting the tea right. Not hurrying a person through a wash because the morning is busy. We help with personal care, dressing, medication and mobility, doing it quietly and leaving as much privacy and as much choice with the resident as we can. Where somebody can still manage a task themselves, that is theirs to keep. The first fortnight after a move matters enormously, and we give it real thought. Before somebody arrives we want to know what time they wake, how they take their tea, what they cannot abide and who they want to be able to ring. Those details are what begin turning a strange room into their room. Respite bookings are planned with the same care as permanent moves, because a break only rests a family if the person staying with us is genuinely settled rather than merely safe. We would far rather hear about a small problem early than a large one later, so families who tell us when something is not right are doing us a favour. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and see us on an ordinary afternoon and ask us anything you like.
