About Tigh Sogan
We are Tigh Sogan, a residential care home in South Croydon. We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people living with sight or hearing loss and younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We are pleased with it, and we try not to make too much of it, because it reflects one week of work and everything that earned it has to carry on happening. Most of what we do would look unremarkable from the outside. People here have their own rooms arranged the way they want them and a genuine say in how the house runs, from the shopping list to the weekend plans. We ask rather than assume, and we take no for an answer. Where somebody wants to try something new we back them, even when it makes more work for us. Understanding how each person communicates is central to this, especially where speech is not how somebody tells us what they need, and where sight or hearing loss makes that harder again. We learn each person's way properly, write it down, and make sure everyone on the team responds the same way, so that the place stays predictable and calm. We also take complaints seriously. Most of the improvements we have made here started with somebody telling us plainly that something was not right. You are very welcome to visit, look around and ask us whatever you need to know.
